1. What this app does
Email Summarizer for Gmail (“the App”) reads your Gmail messages with your explicit consent and generates concise summaries for your personal use. The App is intended for personal use and typically runs locally on your own machine (e.g., a notebook or script you execute yourself).
2. Data we access
- Gmail content (read-only): message headers (From, To, Subject, Date) and message bodies; attachments only if you enable that feature.
- No send/modify/delete: the App uses the
gmail.readonly
scope and cannot change or delete your emails.
3. How we use your data
- To create on-device summaries of selected emails (e.g., HOA notices, invoices, meeting updates).
- To optionally extract key fields (dates, amounts, action items) and display them to you.
4. Storage & retention
- Local by default: Processing and temporary cache typically occur on your device. We do not maintain a cloud database for your email content.
- If you configure logs or exports (e.g., Markdown/CSV), those files are saved locally where you run the App. You may delete them at any time.
5. Third-party processing
To generate summaries, you may configure the App to send snippets or extracted text to a language model API provider (e.g., OpenAI). Only the minimum necessary text for summarization is sent.
- You control when the App sends content for summarization.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
6. Google user data – Limited Use
This App’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Google user data to provide the requested summarization features; we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or selling.
7. Your choices & control
- Revoke access: You can revoke the App’s Gmail access anytime at Google Account > Security > Third-party access.
- Delete local data: Remove any exported files and cached tokens on your device.
- Attachments: Enable or disable attachment processing per your needs.
8. Security
- OAuth 2.0 is used to obtain your consent; your credentials are not shared with us.
- If you store API keys or tokens locally, keep them in secure locations (environment variables, encrypted keychains).
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date.
